I'm also looking for a searchable online db with Steinbeck's works, obviously written after the 20's therefore not in the public domain so rights issues pertain. But I did want to direct you to the Steinbeck Website and suggest a visit to his birthplace in Salinas, CA if you are a big fan. I did this and managed to take a literary tour with Susan Shillingshaw, PhD who penned the forward to Cannerry Row for Penguin's edition of same. She gives a fabulous tour which starts out in Montery (Cannery Row) then carries on by bus through the countryside and to the farm where the author stayed while he wrote "The Red Pony" through the agricultural lands and ends up with lunch in Steinbecks home, which has been converted into a museum-restaurant and then the brand new Steinbeck Museum just a block or so away. You can read about my trip on my website: www.bookbuffet.com (type Steinbeck in the search box) or better yet, here is the direct linkhttp://www.bookbuffet.com
