View Full Version : Illegal software.
Was discussing piracy with a friend earlier and was curious about something.
if software was illegally downloaded to a computer - but not installed or registered, and trashed immediately.
Can you be tracked and busted? is this considered illegal?
or is it only illegal when installed and registered?

Slightest idea ...
I have to say that I don't download anything ... I use computer for writing, mainly. And now, to work pictures, now and then ... But not frequently yet.
But ay ... What kinds of programs? I hear that enterprizes have to have original versions, but that home stuff may be usually downloaded without problem, because you won't make profit (money) out of it.
But it's a whisper I hear ... Actually I'm ignorant about it, as far as I know.

I am not sure about the legal issues lima, although I suspect you would not have Customs going after your hard drive--as even I ran into problems with booted gaming software--but from my limited reading about how pc's work, even deleted software remains in the HD for some time. It may get garbled, but it can be retrieved unless a good reformat really wipes you clean.
