Who are some of your favorite Modern, or even Port Modern, poets? Some of mine are W. B. Yeats, T. S. Elliot, Ginsberg, Wallace Stevens, D. H. Lawrence, and Phillip Larkin.

Yeats is my favorite, and I like Elliot a lot. I never used to like Elliot, probably in my freshman year of college my INTRO to literature professor had us read The Wasteland. I still can't say I enjoy that poem, but I like a lot of his other stuff, especially The Hollow Men.

What are some of yours?

For post-modern and still living in English: P. K. Page (especially her poem Arras, which is absolutely fantastic), Seamus Heaney, Derek Walcott, Jay Macpherson, amongst others. I'll add them as I think of them.

Sophia Andresen (1919-2004).

She wrote in Portuguese, but there is a volume of selected poems in English ("Selected Poems (Aspects of Portugal S.)"). There is also a French anthology: "La Nudité de la vie: Anthologie".
