Hello pals !!
I need help figuring out what I should write for my Compare and Contrast Essay. I have to prepare a plan ( Thesis statement and Quotations ) for 2 topics.
The 1st is:
Compare and contrast, with pertinent examples, how language is a dominant symbol of identity in Richard Rodriguez's novel ( Hunger of memory ) and Hoffman's ( Lost in translation ). Develop your points by focusing on how the work looks at each writer'S relationship with their language of origin, Spanish or Polish and the English they adopt. Think about how feelings of alienation, for instance, dominate each writer's relationship with language(s).
The 2nd is:
What does freedom mean to Hoffman and Sandoval ( Arturo Sandoval Story' : For Love or Country (film) ) ? Compare and contrast how specific traumatic events and/or experiences in Hoffman's story and in Sandoval's story have an impact on their vision of freedom. In particular, what impact do the political climates in each country, Poland and Cuba, have on Hoffman's and Sandoval's perceptions of freedom, how they view themselves and others as a result of their particular views about nationalism and patriotism. What importance do nationalism and patriotism hold for each one? In Poland, Cuba, and finally in North America. Think about how a country's political party can have positive and negative effects on its citizens.
