King of the Broke
Where has the economy went?
Gas dropped by a dollar fifty cents.
Can’t afford tea or cigarettes
Can’t even afford to pay the rent!
Out on the sidewalk pushin' broom
Worryin’ about impending doom
Make ends meet if they wouldn’t move
King of the broke.
Third customer makes it plain
Not spendin’ money on anything.
You might say I got the blues,
They keep changin’ all the rules,
Two pots of coffee with the same grounds
No sugar or cream can be found
Make ends meet if they wouldn’t move

I know we all are feelin’ the pinch
No wonder folks are such a grinch
And every handout in every town
Comes from folks like me already down
I sing,
Economy has gone to hell
How long I’ll have a job no one can tell
Everything is up for sale
Still they ring those Christmas bells
