Thompson excelled at his art during a period of turmoil, social upheaveal and moral realignment in America. Although I have read several of his books, I am not a fan, but definately salute those brave enough to show the world their art.....

R.I.P. Mr. Thompson.

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. " Hunter S Thompson

Damn! I learned of the Doctor's death right here. Damn. Do you suppose he'd just said all that he had to say? After the autobiographical "Kingdom of Fear" he may have considered his life's work done. Damn. One of my favorite vignettes by HST is his philosophy on getting pulled over by the cops in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.” It’s a hilarious scene set on I-15 out in the middle of California’s Mojave Desert near Baker. Whooee! I’m laughing now, just thinking about it. Thank you Doctor. RIP

the anecdote that got me laughing was when he was campaiging for sheriff of aspen in 1970 his opponent had a crew cut so he shaved off all his hair and for the rest of the campaign he referred to his rival as "his long haired friend".
