View Full Version : Religions and terrorisms

This post seems to provoke furies but the objective is not this. All I want to express is that terrorism is not a good virtue at all. If anyone resorts to terrorism to assert a particular religion he is not for the religion and he is irreligious or anti-religious by all standards. No prophets or messiahs or saviors have urged people for acts of violence and terrorism at all, and no books of religions and spiritualism go in for terrorism. As a matter of fact all I feel is why people try to indoctrinate innocnet people into acts of violence. It is believed that Hindus are tolerant. This is wrong and we have the case in point in Gujrat and tens of thousands Muslims were very badly treated and their homes were torched.
The Vedas or the Upanishads do not preach violence.
Why do people in religions feel other religions stand as threats to their religions and why should one have that attitude at all?
Is this called civilization decayed?
The world now should have been a better place to live in thru so many religious people underpinning their faiths or courses of living.
Contrary to this we have cases in point religions are taken as weapons or means of terrorism, violence.
Do you have any religions in the world that do not incite or stir up courses of violence?
Now I am confused and have started questioning the very essence of religions.

No religion preaches violence. The opposite is true. Religion actually preaches resisting and fighting violence to work out peace to the world.
I found a beautiful Islamic tradition relating that one of the best qualities in a person is working our peace to the world.
Terror is a result of an erroneous understanding of Religion and the inability to tolerate.
This means violence is present only during the lack of peace, and Peace of mind and soul would never be attained unless you know HIM.

Normal people don't feel that.
Do you have any religions in the world that do not incite or stir up courses of violence?
Can you name one that does it? It's just a totally wrong interpretation of Bible, Quran, etc.

No religion preaches violence. The opposite is true. .
A quick read through the Koran and the Old Testament rubbishes this completely. Muhammed made war specifically to spread Islam - what does that tell you?
"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)
Is that part of the "beautiful tradition"?
Terror is inherent in Abrahamic religion. It is one of its essential qualities. "God" himself is a tyrant and a murderer.

You forgot New Testament, where Jesus clearly made corrections of Old Testament.

If I remember rightly, the NT says that "every jot" of the OT should be followed.
But whatever, the statement that "no religion is violent" is colossally ignorant of blatantly violent scriptures and violent acts committed in God's name.

A quick read through the Koran
A quick read!! well i'm going to excuse you for your "rubbish" because of those two words.
Firstly you said "
Muhammed made war specifically to spread Islam - what does that tell you? "
That tells me and every sensible person, it is completely WRONG.
Nowadays Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, what does that tell you?!
Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him, lived 13 years in Mecca full of oppressions. He(PBUH) never starts a war, He (PBUH) he was known as the “honest” (Al Ameen) for all his purity, honesty and truthfulness.
by whom do you think? by their oppressors. Quraish (Muhammad’s tribe).
I want to tell you that you MUST read the biography of the beloved prophet Muhammad before writing such things. And I'll recommand some books for you and everyone dosen't know him 24 Hours in a life of a Muslim-Waking up in the Morning By Harun Yahya&The Choice-By Ahmed Deedat.
Everyone knows that Islam spread by Islam itself(the teachings of Islam).
Islam is the religion of Peace, Allah is the Peace, our daily greetings is Asslamu Alikum means peace be upon you. So from where you brought the "Idea" of war or violence!!!
You said ""Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)"
I don't know just after reading such claims.... Anyway, DON'T you have something new to say?! Very sad.
by the way you wrote (Surah 2:190-) and this is not the verse 190. Lets start with the verse you mentioned but you didn't write it.
"190. Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors."
Can you see "those who fight you" , "but do not transgress limits" even in war there are limits we have to stop on.
Then:-
"191. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith."
Who are those that have to be killed? read the verse again, Whom? The oppressors, who fire fitna, the oppressors that don't want people to live in peace. Don't want people to practice their religion. They want to demolish everything beautiful even religions.
After that:-
"192. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
look, how much a beautiful verse! Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. They are oppressors and killers, but when they stop that Allah will forgive them."
And read the next verse too.
"193. And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah. but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression."
read with focusing your attention, please. And you'll understand what is written. "Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression"
and no one loves to be oppressed. Do you love oppression?!
If you do then you would insist on your opinion, because it is unfair at all to accuse us with such stuff. But if you don't, then read the quran with your heart and mind, and you would realize that you are wrong.

Thats what happens when you have a "quick read of a book". Perhaps its the same method that terrosrists do, only give a quick read without thinking
Copy and paste is not good thing to do, good response mercy mankind, i suggest that Trys. should have a "slow reading" of verses before and after this verse.

Because the subject matter of religion is so vast, it's easy for people to hi-jack to use as back-up for whatever daft scheme they have in mind. The flaws we see in how religion is used and interpreted are the flaws of people in general, not religion. If we were to wake up in the morning and there was no more religion, people would be doing all of the same things but using philosophy books instead.
Personally I think the idea of what we call "Religion" is so vast that it has almost no inherent traits-- within the realm of religion you can find anything. You can't even say that the common denominator is belief, because there are religions that outline guidelines for your life that specifically do not require belief-- religions that intend to fill the vacuum left by an absence of belief.
It's kind of like trying to talk about literature as a whole, when that includes great novels and childrens books and porn magazines and everything else; just so huge that it defies explanation.

all religions have always been screaming this:
"OMFG, I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT. ALL OTHERS THAT CAME BEFORE ME WERE FOOLS AND CRIMINALS, HEAR ME NOW. FOLLOW ME, I AM THE ONLY LIGHT THERE IS. SHUT UP, DONT THINK, JUST DO WHAT I SAY, YOU HAVE BEEN BLIND, BUT I WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH, THE REAL ONE, BECAUSE I KNOW EVERYTHING. DONT DOUBT, EVER, BECAUSE IF YOU DOUBT YOU ARE UNWORTHY OF THE WEALTH I PROFESS. THERE ARE THESE INFIDELS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BORDER, THEY ARE SINNERS. LET'S GO THERE NOW AND KILL THEM ALL, TAKE THEIR LAND, AND ABIDE GOD'S LAWS, HE SPEAKS THROUGH ME AND THAT WHAT HE TELLS ME TO DO. READY? FIGHT!"

Do you realize the irony of complaining about myopia and ignorance with your own brand of myopia and ignorance? I'm not trying to be rude, I just wonder if you realize it.
Honestly, can a Mod lock this? This has nothing to really do with scripture at all, sadly, like most of the threads in this forum. This can only lead to controversial debate, which naturally will break the forum rules.

I plead with all to generously not to break the forum rules for I have never the motive to be critical about the faiths of any particular people or believers. In point of fact it is simply the generalization, not the criticism against any particular faiths.
All I mean to say is what we are doing in the name of religion is not good and no acts of terrorism is good at all.
For instance Islam is a wonderful religion, and I am very moved by the devotions the Muslims live by. But at the same time terrorism is often associated with Islamic faiths or indoctrination. That is not good, and so is some Hindu fundamentalists too are associated with it. Ordinary Muslims and Hindus are good and behave rationally and when they are moved by the Fundamentalist idea they become unruly and fanatics.
