Raindance

Every drop of rain contains its own song
in hushed whispers each of the notes fall
every drop of rain contains its own song
in silence to one another they call
while to the eye they all appear the same
in hushed whispers each of the notes fall
with more differences than one could name
when they dance they offer hints to the ear
while to the eye the they all appear the same
breathe softly and listen for you just may hear
a glimpse of the secrets they sing
when they dance they offer hints to the ear
each new surface caressed has its own unique ring
all too soon the splendor must fade away
a glimpse of the secrets they sing
so subtle yet beautiful in their display
all too soon the splendor must fade away
every drop of rain contains its own song
for once they are parted they seek again to belong.

I like the way you handle the repetition in this because it stands apart from the use of rhyme and duplication.

I'm not sure line 7 reads right for me. Did you mean "than one could name"

Grrr, yes, I always get my then's and than's confused

oops and I did not realize I said once instead of one

The poem conjures up the rythm of falling rain, while, at the same time, reveals a kind of conscious meaning seen through the phenomenon.

Beside love poetry, my favourite are the poems which describe nature. I like it very much.

Lovely! Love the last line, clearly the best part. And ofcourse the rhythm, which could so easily have turned hackneyed, have come together so beautifully instead!

In the end the ties that bind were evident and I loved it. You've successfully hit your mark!

i'm glad i read this again, as i appreciate it more. i love this:
"each new surface caressed has its own unique ring" isn't it great to
find the different aspects of something so simple. and then the last
part, like a farewell and wholeness of the individual subjects. an
inspiration would be to speak of tears that are like raindrops.
