we laughed together
all that night
and sighed about men-
so near, yet so far
they are always are-
drank green tea
and ate tacos,
invited kyoshi
over because
we couldn't possibly eat

all the cookies
ourselves now,
could we?

we folded paper together
all that night
made trousers that fit into
sweaters that fit into heads
(which helped a lot, i must say)
and starlike
boxes for candy - they
hold my jellies well, the
larger ones-
and boxes that look like presents

and fluted, layered
triangles that when
unfurled stood up tall -
and with agile scissors
became dainty and star-topped - and

that's all we're left with today
our papered memories,
multicolored christmas trees.

and i really hope you're doing well, tomoko and kyosho.
xxoo

Beautiful, amuse. I love the casual language, especially hinted by the sometimes random caesuras (breaking with "and"), and the work's warm, friendly nostalgia that almost makes me wish I could experience that too.
Well done!

Caesuras, if I remember correctly, refer to the line-breaks in a poem. The word, Italian in origin, comes from the verb 'to cut,' and with a reference to Caesar, who physicians first documented of being born through a Caesarian ("C-") section.
