1984 was George orwells predictions on what life was going to be like in the year 1984. I want to know what Orwell was thinking when he wrote this?(not being rude, i would really like to know)
When he was alive people were not so controled and restricted. What do you think he thought the people did to diserve to be so regulated?

Gosh, we've seen this mistake a few times!

Orwell wasn't predicting anything. He was warning against the dangers of totalitarianism - he wasn't making any comment about the world's future.

Just as The Atheist said, Orwell was giving us a heads-up on what the dangers of totalitarianism are with technology and an influential ruler. Orwell had to make sure this book was as bleak as possible for any rebellion and for the obedient people who live by the rules to show that this form of government is not the right one.
