Looking for a book...

I read about these 3 books a few years ago when I finished War of the Worlds from H. G. Wells. These were not written by him but two of them were meant to be as sequels making it a trilogy. Number 2 dealt with the humans serving as slaves of the martians and life as a martian slave and in number three the humans over threw the martians and took earth back. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

The 3rd was a book about giant worms in the ground that break out and destroy the world. :lol:

I'm 90% sure this isn't what you're thinking of, but I have fond memories of the Tripod triology. Young reader level, but a fun "aliens took over the world but we'll take it back".

The most famous giant worm book is Dune, but they don't destroy Earth.

I remember a book by Terry Brooks (One of the old (not new) Shannara ones, the one with the one armed old man who was the Last Druid or something) had a city underground where this huge thing (and I'm talking like mountain sized) lived and gnawed on the roots of the mountains or some such.

That is the Heritage of Shannara series if i'm not mistaken :) I think it was the book Druid of Shannara where they go in search of hte black elfstone.


Are you thinking of Tremors? They were movies though...
