View Full Version : Do you live by values?

Today ideas and values oscillate. We frame certain values to live by and no sooner than do we start to live by them new values crop up and it goes eternally and infinitely in point of fact.

For me values are like my dresses. Today I wear one and tomorrow I it. Today I think I must help the poor and needy and at the end of the day new ideas turn up and I feel this world is not for losers and the weak and it is for the mighty few who can batter the weak and go up mounting over their shoulders.

I loved literature as a kid and I had an intense passion for writing poetries. I wanted to be a great poet like Shelly, Wordsworth. Then I was too innocent and ignorant about what the world is. Today maturing I have different values. Maybe money is one of the things I prime in life. Maybe rank, position and status come in series one after another. Literature and art are seconded or subordinated in the course of life.

I want to be honest that today I am not as pure and seamless in embracing values and my values are at times dirty.

This is not a confession but the desire of what I want to know about others and how others live by their values. And are there constancies in their values or they frequent newer values with respect to time and situations.

Hmm.. this is quite an interesting topic!

I actually find that most of my values do not change. I don't know whether it was how I was raised, or if I am just hard headed- but they haven't, for the most part. With experience, I believe that I have become more open to things; the edges have softened, but the same basic values have stayed the same. Some people might say it was for lack of "challenge" - that I don't step into situations where I feel uncomfortable - but I feel like I have done so, plenty of times.
