Sonnet #102

CII.br /br /My love is strengthen'd, though more weak in seeming;br /I love not less, though less the show appear:br /That love is merchandized whose rich esteemingbr /The owner's tongue doth publish every where.br /Our love was new and then but in the springbr /When I was wont to greet it with my lays,br /As Philomel in summer's front doth singbr /And stops her pipe in growth of riper days:br /Not that the summer is less pleasant nowbr /Than when her mournful hymns did hush the night,br /But that wild music burthens every boughbr /And sweets grown common lose their dear delight.br /Therefore like her I sometime hold my tongue,br /Because I would not dull you with my song.
