Hi there,

This is a great forum, I have really learned a lot more about 1984 reading various posts and people's thoughts. I am in need of some assistance with this English project that I am doing. For this project, we need to find 2 books and find themes that are comparable, and write an essay about it. The two books I've decided to do this essay on are George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. I am wondering if you guys can be so kind to give me a few ideas about possible themes I can do for this comparison essay.

Thanks,
SlAyR

How about this thread right next to this one? (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39883)

Should get some ideas from there. Also, check out BNW forum.

You could go with the dystopia/utopia argument. Both books describe future societies, one i think scientific the other totalitarian.
There are many arguments and comparisons to be made i think.
Were the comparable societies dystopian or utopian? its open to interpretation i think, and may make for an interesting part of your essay.

p.s. you choose two great books for your assignment.
