One more day versus apathy
Try not to let it get to me
Sick and tired of being useless
One more day, I swear I'll lose it

Look in the mirror
See the eyes I'm living in
Take two steps back
From the medicine cabinet
I find life in oblivion

So I'll take a hundred of these
I will lose this fight
A permanent slumber
I will die by the morning light

Yes, I'll take a hundred of these
Then call to say goodbye
Drift away into my thoughts
Self execution will make it alright

I can't stand to live with me
A few mistakes can't mean eternity
I've learned a lesson, maybe two
But playing "catch up" isn't easy to do

I'll grab this bottle
Turn it upside down
A deadly combination
My heartbeat's racing
Close my eyes to never make a sound

So I'll take a hundred of these
Then count the breaths that remain
It suits me better than sheep
Stare dead ahead with no ground to gain

Yes, I'll take a hundred of these
And write this one last piece
Then sail away before the last sunrise
I'll incinerate once I'm asleep

I'm sorry, so so sorry
Life is boring, so so boring
I'd take it all back
Ever last mistake
Choice never mattered
I was born to die at a young age

I'm sorry, so so sorry
Life is boring, so so boring
I'd take it all back
Not retire these eyes
But it's too late
I will die by the morning light

won't be as pleasant as you think
probably trying to vomit in the sink
won't come out so to the doc you'll go
where you'll be a lucky so and so
to have the cops and the docs show up
where they'll make you drink crap so you can throw up
you'll expell everything in front of the crowd
taking poison now doesn't make you feel proud
then you'll pass out and your stomach they'll pump
you'll spend three days sitting on your rump
they'll be watching you closely so you won't give up
and you can be sure some worried family will show up
then you'll get out and think everything's ok
but your speech and brain won't work the same way
cause you've damaged something inside your head
after all it was poison, not blood that was red
and now you have this permanent thing
that goes along with all the regret it'll bring
so just know it's not death you're searching for
but a life filled with living

oh wow, comically enlightening. your response made me smile, it's been awhile after everything that's been going on. however, "The Morning Light" isn't literal, although i really do feel that way sometimes, i know i'll never have the balls to actually do it. it's just that sometimes life throws curve balls that you're not sure how to handle. this poem was just the darkness coming out of me on to paper.

thanks you

yeah, scrotum and balls and stuff... lol... i'm glad it was humorous! :)
i think people sometimes need a push the other way, when they get to close to the line.
