What is the significance of the song the Prole woman sings outside the Mr. Charrington's apartment?

The song, I think, is there mainly to show us that the proles are content with their place in life, they know nothing better could ever possibly exist. Singing is something we usually do to show emotions... the proles are the only ones who sing, so the proles are also the only ones who appear to have any emotions left.
