Vietnam you were still in the lonesome vortex of woe,
Yearned to shine happiness upon your continent.
Though no more war, no more massacre, no more human wails,
Crimson peace, yet to taste sweetest.
Once, you peeled your young skin for those bastards to jeer,
Bared your facade for those fiends to mottle bitter blood,
Now, longed to glow like a shimering Polar star
And dreamed to wade through inches of mud, humming your anthem.
A scar, buried deep in your tearful heart,
Gleamed endlessly im daylight and darkness;
A pair of tattered wings, so weak to flap,
And colors, tarnished, soon to completely fade...
O, Vietnam, I wept as I cradled you, humming your favourite lullabies!
A scar, buried deep in your tearful heart,
Gleamed endlessly im daylight and darkness;
A pair of tattered wings, so weak to flap,
And colors, tarnished, soon to completely fade...
O, Vietnam, I wept as I cradled you, humming your favourite lullabies!
