I have a couple questions about Winston and Julias secret room.
Why does this room not have any telescreens in it, How old is the room that they are in, and last why is there still an old bed in the room? Has big brother never seen the room? How well is this room hidden?

If someone could answer any of these questions it would be appreciated!!!!

Did you read 1984?
The room doesn't hve a telescreen because it's in the proles section. The room is probably about as old as the antique shop it's above.

I cant remember if it was the same in the book as I have watched the film much more recently, but was there not a telescreen hiding behind the painting? when Winston and Julia were caught?

As Winston and Julia are caught we find out that there is a telescreen in the room behind the painting. If telescreens aren't in the prole section why is there one in their room? Could there be hidden telescreens in the prols houses too or is just because it was part of the trap that they were bright into by o'brian? Any input would be helpful thanks.:p

I now see that I have gotten to part 3 of the book mr. Charinton was part of the whole thing he is a member of the thought police. I have another question though did have any laws that protected the people's rights did they not have right or was it ok for them to kill anyone say the prols for example or was it just the innerparty members have the only rights

Nobody has any rights at all, although you could say the Inner Party does, since they make the rules.

Unless a prole was inclined to start trouble, they were left alone. You need to think of proles as cattle - they perform a useful duty, and therefore wouldn't be killed without reason. A Party member who started killing them would have to answer to the Thought Police, and since crime is not allowed, the person would end up as Winston does.

In a society with no laws nobody has any rights. Therefore, they can and do kill anyone that's not big brother or thought police. If they are seen as a threat.

There are no laws. Only government regulation (i.e. thought police, telescreens, etc...)
