I got it about a few years ago and its gradually becoming worse. What's worse is that I think I'm allergic to prawns and I love prawns. Now my hands are kind of swollen, red and itchy. Yuck.
Anyone here has eczema?

I do. I have an atopic skin, so I get rash very often. At the moment it's a bit better, because I went to see a dermatologist, and she prescribed me antibiotics and other medication plus several different creams. Though now that I'm done with the antibiotics, the rash is coming back again... But I have a new appointment on Friday, so we'll see. I'll probably start SUP-treatment (selective ultraviolet phototherapy), perhaps it will help :)

I went to the dermatologist about 12 years ago for something else. But as long as I was there I showed him my hands. I had very itchy, dry, red and scaly skin. It was the worst on my knuckles. I would get patches here and there of this. He told me that it was eczema. I have very sensitive skin. All he gave me was a bunch of different kinds of lotions. These lotions were either medicated, for sensitive skin or for very dry skin. It has seemed to help it. I have gotten outbreaks from it, but all-in-all the lotion helped. Now I just make sure to put lotion on when I get up in the morning and definitely at night. I pretty much have to cover my body with it, but my hands were the most severe. I know I have it starting a little on my right hand again, but I think it is going away (hopefully!).

Me too! You should try using Cloderm cream, it really helps, though I hate applying cream on my skin.

I never thought about using a cream. I should try that. Have you ever used cocoa butter? I find that that kind of lotion seems to help.

Cipherdecoy - please don't self-medicate, you could make it worse. Go to your doctor and ask to see a dermatologist so the root cause of the condition can be found. Often eczema is associated with other allergic conditions, such as asthma or hayfever and these can be aggravated by stress. You seem to have found one source of irritation, but perhaps there are others - scented soaps and lotions set my skin itching beyond bearing, so no nice 'smellies' for me!

Hmm it's not self-medication, the cream was given by the doctor, and it helps :)

Nope I've never used it, or even heard of it. Sounds yummy haha.

I'm itching all over again :( It seems that no amount of creams and lotions doesn't help the fact my skin is dreadfully dry and irritable. (I use a whole 900 gram bottle of Apobase oily cream every month, and it has 60 % fat content...)

I commiserate with you all. There are more bad things. For example - empty cream bottle. :)
