I need help with an assignment I'm doing in University. If anyone remembers at least 5 poems that are about the act of reading please let me know. I'm trying to find some poems that are less child oriented if possible. Sorry my first post is asking for help, I do plan on becoming an active poster. Thanks.
I'm an English major at St. Marys University in Nova Scotia, Canada.

wish i could help. sorry! and like you i plan to be an active poster too!!
Almost all of Shakespeare's sonnets. I'll give you a freebie, try 23.
Almost all poems inherently brush the concept of reading themselves, being that they are all, or almost all, are about in some way poetry itself, and the question of what is creativity.

Yeatsdude2008, first of all: Welcome to the site. Then, can you tell me more of what you are looking in a poem. Do the poems have to be done by a professional? What is the assignment? If you need inspiration there is a whole forum of personal poetry on this site. There are some incredible poems in there. Just don't use any without permission from the author of course. I am willing to help anyway I can, but I just need to understand better what you need. And if you ever have any other questions just ask!

I suspect Donne may have some self-referential material as well, and I know Elizabeth Bishop does--most great poetry is self-conscious of its own process.
