[bennywaters]

my heart pounded
with the escalating noise of the shower
and drap from the gutters pooling
into my chest flat
black silhouetted by lamplight against
a dirty cream wall

The Rock

O Rock, you sit soberly on my shelf,
you care not for mans devices!
you yield to neither man nor beast,
a constant in a world in flux,
even the sun must shift but to alter your shadow,
the river is cleft by your rugged face.

O Rock you harbour a cold virtue!

dry gummed tacked and caulk

black keys stamped
parallel fingers cramp
cantilevered organ pipes
crushing cotton rag died carbon cut
