I haven't read it. Maybe that's why I'm not rich. ;)

I think it is nothing but a book in order for Trump to get rich by selling it.

First Google result when looking for "Walden". Basically it's about the opposite of "making money".

Hey [D] I was only being tongue-in-cheek with my comment above. The business world makes the world go round. There is nothing wrong with making money and being rich. Frankly those are the people who give everyone the standard of living we all enjoy. Read Walden for the pleasure, but don't try to derive any lesson from it. If you ask me who the fool is, the person who lives in the woods in a hut like a ascetic monk or the guy who works in society and builds a buisness, I would say it's the ascetic monk.

Especially when he preaches abstinence, that doesn't make the world go round much...

They are both idiots. Beyond a certain point, one needs not make more money - that is, beyond the point where their life is not being jeopardized because of lack of funds, and they have the necessities to live.

From there, we have the question, what is the point of money. The answer? Aesthetic pleasures, such as food, and sex. The problem? Many rich people aren't aesthetes, or are abstinent, or married, or work too hard to actually enjoy their lives, or are depressed. The point? Money isn't really worth anything tangible beyond a certain point.

That being said, we use money as a form of scoreboard between ourselves in order to prove to the others our superiority. Quite frankly though, I would rather have my brains and a decent sized wallet, allowing me my pleasures in life, rather than be like some people I know, who inherited money, and simply waste away burning it, without education, or purpose.

Still, I hope to make enough to allow me to travel, but I couldn't really care less if I have to stay in a motel, or a five star resort. It's just I think I can derive some sort of pleasure in life for these things.

So rather than complain about how you cannot afford something, or look for Get-Rich-Quick schemes, you're better off grounding yourself in a comfortable living, and then spending your time doing what you enjoy.

Good point JBI i agree with you on that . I actually had to read the book for a paper and it wasn't bad so just was suggesting it to others but it just gave me a different outlook on business than what i already knew
