A modern novel to compare with Death Of A Salesman

I need a book recommendation for a student at my school.

A novel, post-1990, that deals with similar themes as Death Of A Salesman (and therefore would make a good compare / contrast essay!)

All I've found so far is Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo - this seems to pick up on consumerism, the break-up of the family etc.

So any post-1990 novels that deal with similar themes to the play?

Erm, I'm going to tap into my reserves of post-1990 lit. One I actually liked that does deal with breaking families is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I hope you find it at least somewhat useful. Good luck!
