When Winston enters the proll's pub why does everyone look at him and his overalls? I mean i do know that he is a part of the outer party with is a higher class above the prolls but He didn't pick his class?

Say you were in your favorite pub that you visited every day and you were knocking back a cold one and an extremely unusual person entered. This is the kind of person you don't see everyday in the pub. You can't help but stop and stare. I don't believe the proles had any hard feeling or hateful thoughts against the party members but it was an unusual sight in those parts.

Hope that is enlightening

I agree with ¡Finallyworked. Orwell was just simply showing how different parts of society form cliques and how distant they are from one another. This scene is exactly like today's stereotypical world.

I don't think the proles hate the party members, just "an unusual sight in these parts" Uber Agreement

I agree with SABDFL (Pi Boy =D), this person is not meant to be there. This is the Proles area and Party members don't frequent there. This is unusual for them to see as the "blue overalls" give it away.
