I always see this book at the store mainly due to its size but I begin reading it and am always drawn in, but I've not made the commitment to buy it, as the price goes hand in hand with its physical heft.

yea or nay for A SUITABLE BOY? Reviews seem good on it but I'm still a but stuck on it.

I have read about 1/4 of it and am still working on it. I can say that I am mostly enjoying it even though the parts on Indian history is a little heavy going for me because it is not a subject I am familiar with (though it is interesting).

All said and done, I think it is a worthy book even though it requires a big commitment to finish it.

Hi waryan, I started reading A Suitable Boy a couple of years ago and broke off after about half the book. I did like it an awful lot and mean to take it up again some day. So if you've got time on your hands, don't let the size put you off.
I liked the Indian history bits, but then I learned about post-independence India in my geography/ politics classes, so I might be more familiar with it than Scher.
