This may have been mooted before at some point in the LNF`s history but, nevertheless, I would be interested to see how many Lit Netters are cat lovers as opposed to dog lovers or whether you are both or indifferent to pets in general. This is not entirely without some literary input given that Ernest Hemingway and Robert Graves were both cat lovers, Thomas Mann was enamoured of his dog and, to their eternal credit, the English have erected a statue to Dr. Johnson`s cat in London.

I'm an animal lover, no matter what species. The critters I live with keep me sane - sort of: 2 cats, 2 dogs, 4 horses, various ground-dwelling mammals, several families of "roof-birds" and some creepy-crawlies. My old running pardner, a 14 year old Springer Spaniel (Miss Molly) now has arthritis so bad that she doesn't run much anymore. Gonna be a bad day when she goes.

Anyway, all right.
I think it's almost natural to like dogs, or at least to have some sort of love for them, but I admit I used to be afraid of them, until about 98. I first began loving dogs, I mean, I could have relationship with dogs, because my aunt had a very inteligent black poodle "toy", and all the family (grandparent's house) learnt to love her.
I used to have some difficulty with cats. It was so until a friend of mine taught me to make friends with them, so, now I think I have more cat friends than dog friends, because a dog has to be near, a relative's one, and I have none (close), but a cat, there are cats all around, and down there in my building there's always a couple of cats, and I always get their friend.
If I could have a pet at home (I live with my parents), it'd be a cat.
Now, I'm still learning how to deal with horses. I have to admit that I'm still afraid of them, because they're big.
I mention these three kinds of animals because, in my opinion, they have a lot to do with people's personalities ... Some people are like dogs, some are like cats (I think I'm like a cat), and some are like horses.

I have always had one or more cat at home and presently live with the Duchess Willow who is 17 years old. and in complete command of my household. However, as my daughter and family are moving house and city, my grandson's 3 year old Burmese Princess, Bridget Jones is coming to stay.
Do other cat lovers have any helpful hints on the co-habitation of these two Ladies of Quality? Or do you think I should leave home for a while?

I actually prefer dogs, but I have a cat. She was just so sad and little and I decided to take her in.

Hmm... my family has always had both, but I've never had a dog of my very OWN until a week ago. I love him to death, but he is so much more work than a cat... but also so much more rewarding.

I like cats, but for a "wow" I need a bow-wow.
