(Remember that from Arsenio Hall?)

Anyways, Linens N' Things is going out of business. So like a good vulture I couldn't wait for the sale to start. I usually don't waste my time with the 10% discount so I waited for the 40% off sign to appear. I went in yesterday and found a 5 qt saute pan from calphalon.

Now, I know Calphalon can be expensive but there was a sale going on, there was no price tag but I figured it wouldn't be bad. I put it in the cart and went about picking over the carcasses of discount merchandise. I get to the register and ask the price of the pan. Would you believe with 20% off the dang thing was $168. Seriously! who has the nerve to sell a pan for $190?

And what's with the people at the street corners holding up the sales advertisements? When did that get popular? And why can't they just lean the signs against a pole or something, do they need the people there?

I never made it into Linens N Things. But I did go to Bed Bath and Beyond... I still get $5 off coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond. Maybe Linens and Things didn't have enough coupons.

Some of that cooking stuff can be expensive but $168 is a lot of dang money for a pan. On the other hand, I once bought some pans from Big Lots and the first time I put one on the stove, I noticed that it was looking funny and there was a weird smell. As it turns out, the pan was painted, and when I put it on the stove eye, the paint started to bubble up and melt. I'm no chef or anything, but I don't think that's a good thing. I guess those were just decorative pots and pans.

and about those sign holders...that's a paid job I guess. There's one that stands by the side of the road here and he can flip and twirl that sign like a baton. I wonder if they pay extra for people who do that. You know how places will advertise jobs in the paper and there's a $1 extra to the hourly rate for people who speak Spanish? Maybe it's the same thing for the sign twirlers.

And this is my thing that makes me go hmmm and i'm being completely serious...I think there is a deodorant conspiracy.

They are now selling clinical strength secret women's deodorant, and prescription strength Sure and Dove. The price of a stick of this clinical strenth deodorant is $7.99 here where I live. The old regular deodorants sell for about $2.99 to $4.50 or so and that's what I buy and that's what I've always purchased. Well, I must be sweating more profusely now because my old trustworthy Secret Platinum deodorant/anit-perspirant is not doing the job anymore. I've been noticing that for several months now, and I decided to try some of the Sure Clinical Strength for some crazy price of $7.99 and it worked the way my good old Secret used to work and I am wondering if they changed the formulas in the $2.99 to $4.50 deodorants. I think it's a deodorant industry conspiracy to up the selling price of deodorants.

Because, before they introduced Clinical Strenght Secret, I was doing just fine with Secret Platinum. If I ever cheaped out and bought Suave, i regretted it. it didn't work the same. It has to be a deodorant industry conspiracy. That, or I am just sweating now more than I used to. Maybe it's a gland problem. I prefer the deodorant conspiracy theory though. Someone else please tell me they've noticed this....

I kind you're on to something. When I first saw the ads for the clinical strength I wondered if it was a problem, I've never heard it being an issue?

last week my mother and I went to the linen's n things store by us. I was kind of annoyed because half the merchandise wasn't even priced at all and they really didn't have anything at bargain prices.

I know!! That's always bugged me, people see closeout sale and go crazy if we all just cool our jets and wait a few weeks the discounts will get better.
