Sonnet #89

LXXXIX.br /br /Say that thou didst forsake me for some fault,br /And I will comment upon that offence;br /Speak of my lameness, and I straight will halt,br /Against thy reasons making no defence.br /Thou canst not, love, disgrace me half so ill,br /To set a form upon desired change,br /As I'll myself disgrace: knowing thy will,br /I will acquaintance strangle and look strange,br /Be absent from thy walks, and in my tonguebr /Thy sweet beloved name no more shall dwell,br /Lest I, too much profane, should do it wrongbr /And haply of our old acquaintance tell.br /For thee against myself I'll vow debate,br /For I must ne'er love him whom thou dost hate.
