OK, so I remember reading the following at some point in my life, but I cannot remember in what book I read it.
It describes a scene where there are kids gathered on a "lookout" type hill, overlooking the city in which they live. The only quote that sticks in my mind is one kid talking to another and he says "See that blue light down there? That's my parents' house" and he may have added "and they miss me" but I'm not too clear on that. He may have also describes what his father would/should be doing at that moment: sitting front of the t.v. while his mom cleaned the kitchen or did something else. Maybe.
It is described as the glow of a t.v. and the quote may or may not even be exact. I just remember it being described and the phrase "breaking the hearts of the parents" MAY HAVE been used in or around the scene. After so long I may have just added that in my mind.
I'm really hoping someone knows what the hell I'm talking about. It has been suggested that it was maybe Stephen King, but I have no idea how many actual SK stories/books I've actually read. Someone else said Chuck Palahniuk, but I'm 90% sure it wasn't him.
