Sometimes, our greatest error lies in our preoccupation with being right and winning arguments.

Thomas Merton once said: "It is not our speech which disturbs our silence, but our anxiety to be heard."

Thanks, Sitaram. This message reminds me of a short poem by Rumi I shared in the poetry section of the forum:

There is a way between voice and presence
where information flows.

In disciplined silence it opens.
With wandering talk it closes.

I totally agree with you Sitaram, I do think that we forget that action speaks louder than words. In these times were speed and getting ahead seems to be the most important thing we let our longings get the best of us and we don't enjoy the simple things in life. I think there is so much in our lives that we don't attend to enough, like our spirit and emotions.

You can find examples of this in everyday life. People forget to think before they speak.

this a great way to remind of this Sitaram, we really should do more of this.

Hmm.. I wrote a poem with similiar topic with what Thomas Merton stated (It is not our speech which disturbs our silence, but our anxiety to be heard). 'Tis at my home, I'll posted it tomorrow :)
