Hello, all!

Anyone ever venture the beautiful Cape Town? I'll be there within the next 3 weeks for work, but I have the weekends off. So thought I'd ask anyone who have been there for suggestions of interesting places to visit.

Cheers!

You lucky, lucky thing. Been there this year and had one of the best holidays of my life. Would suggest you log on to Tripadvisor for loads of info on Cape Town.

Personally, my highlights would have been a wine tour to Stellanbosch, Cape Point, Table Mountain and DEFINITELY Robben Island because the tour of the prison is given by former political prisoners. Oh and as for restaurants, you HAVE to check out Baia - glorious fish and fabulous views of the Waterfront. You'll have SO many things to see while you're there - just depends on what you're interested in. Bon voyage!

Thank you, Cailin. Yes, Table Mountain will be my main destination when I'm there. Good to know that you enjoyed your holiday there. Cheers :)

Night, it's part of the job I have ;).

Do you live in London? I was actually there last July. DK and GB is not that far, and if I ever happen to be in town again, perhaps we too can have the meet up :D (would love that).

Hah! I live in Cape Town. Cape Town is mostly interesting for: wildlife, wine, nature, errr...? Well I'm sure a tourist can find more interesting things than I can, but it is a good base to venture out from. I think it's quite odd you actually know Cape Town exists.

a lot of people would know it exists. Table mountain is very famous you know!
And its possible to fly from Dublin to Cape town during our winter months every year.

I dont I live up north, not that I wouldnt come down to London if I had enough warning ( with enough warning I can get there for £1.50 as opposed to £50) I havent seen enough of the sites yet, going with a big family compromise seems to be a key word in what you get to see

So? This is long after the last reply, I know, but I would really like to know how your trip was and what places you particularly enjoyed.

AHHH CAPE TOWN IS AMAZING! I spent one month there on a study abroad and it was one of the most transformative experiences of my life...

along with some of the suggestions others gave, make sure you visit Kirstenboch (sp?) botanical gardens... they are really like paradise :)

Also make sure you visit some museums, like THE SLAVE LODGE. If you have time, go down to Cape Point to see the penguins and beautiful scenery.... Though you will be going when their winter is about ti start, so hopefully it won't be cold (though CT seems to have a pretty mild climate as far as that is concerned, minus the wind).

I am envious you get to go, wish I could as well. But I hope you have a good time!

I've done a little bit of traveling. I spent a couple of weeks in South America. I've been to the USVI. I've been all over the US (and a couple places in Mexico and Canada). But I am envious of y'all too. I can't do all that traveling now that I have the little ones...well, not until they get big.

Oh, well...Let's just all meet at Cape Town anyway!!

Sounds good to me. We should start a litnet fund (figure out a way to raise money) so that we can have a litnet gathering every 5 years in different locations around the world. How great would that be!? :D

Cool, it'll be really cheap for me, since I live here/there :D
