My Light

I would cry if I could
but I have no use for
these tears

You are my shinning star
the green light at the dock
always there as a symbol

The moon is my light
that I watch every night
to try and draw closer to you

But so far apart
I feel the void
by my side

I reach out to you
as I watch the stars
and wonder, do you feel me
when I call

There is an unshattering bond
as I watch for you
through the sky

You are the light
that guides me though
I always see you shinning
no matter how far away.

a passionate love poem! could it also be interpreted as an address to God?

Yes when posting this I thought how some might see it as an address to God, but I figured most around here know my beliefs enough not to make that presumption. It is intended to be a love poem.

I am sorry, I did not mean to make that sound harsh. I am aware how the poem could sound like it is about God, and I had thought of that when I posted it, but I have a very different set of spiritual beleifs, of course I cannot exepct everyone to know that. I did not mean to be quite so cynical and bitter sounding. It was a valid point about the poem.

yah, i like to think of the poem as being about love between two human beings. reminded me of shakespeare's sonnet 116, i think because of the star-image.

Yes, it is kind of a weird thing with me. Currently me and my beloved are kept at a physcial distance from each other, and I view the moon as a connecting force between us, as when I look upon it, I know, that though we are far away, the same moon hovers over him.

This is very nice, Dark Muse. It reminds me of my own experience. It is so true.

the lonely star says
human! you can look at me
at the dead of night
thinking of another human being
but where do i go
with all my pain
eternally fixed here, always looking?

whom do i go to
with all my stories
with all of my dreams
what cursed scheme
hung me like a picture
for brooding human beings!
