Ever want to know what flood waters would say to Humans?
RIVERS
By Lawrence Smith
My water is murky,
and will seek to destroy your existance.
My rapids smash against rocks,
mocking the rhythm of your beating hearts.
Beats so familar
it will remind you of promises;
Promises that I broke.
My water too contaminated to sustain life;
Can still offer relief to parched souls.
But once consumed,
I will dehydrate a fruitful spirit into sand.
Build a village of emotion and time by my shore again,
and you will regret your ignorance.
A river was meant to sustain life,
but I will destroy it.
