A poem about what love means to her and
what Paperleaves means
to love, but a careless tap
of her index finger
sent it into cyberspace
to dwell among the detritus
of other hopeful or lethal
declarations: the urgent memo
from General Death to his troops at the front
to attack: Attack immediately!
or the manifesto from the rebel leader
declaring the world safe
at last for brother- and sisterhood!

Snarled in that poem
were the body-memories
of every time you ached for love,
the hideous face
of the one who would not love you
no matter what-–who lived for no other reason
but to be indifferent to your love.

Your dreams, singed
and curling at the edge, come
to pay a visit but
you will not let them in.
You will not let them in!
They stomp their feet on the snow
and clap their hands against the cold,
circle the house
again and again.

You go searching for the back door
but they’re already there.
Esos hijos asesinados the las perras
siempre estan ahi!

You're welcome! Having trouble linking to the album you mentioned... and you owe me, like, 237 PM responses!
