One Chance to Get It Right…

When you live your life for others.
Just ascertain that they do not end up
Running your life for you.

When you join in peals of unrestrained mirth,
Be careful that they are laughing with you—
Laughing at you stings like hell.

I’m not a fan of being all by my lonesome,
But “a face in the crowd” is just as awful—
Friends are great that are true friends…

Love’s electricity must flow in two directions,
Or it might overload the heart’s capacitors—
A blown one does nobody any good…

Be humble, turn the other cheek,
Just don’t let them ever know what hurts or breaks—
Fragility isn’t a virtue…

“Better stand tall when they are throwing you out
Don’t bent, don’t break, baby, don’t back down”
Bon Jovi had the right idea…

I like your other poems more. This one doesnt work very well with me. I like the 1st and fourth stanzas though.
