Anyone know a really gripping fiction book?

An extremely gripping classic would be even better, but I'm happy with whichever.

Water For Elephants I thought was very gripping.

For classics I would say The Magus and The Stranger

Gripping...Lolita, maybe. And a lot of Shakespeare plays are gripping- Titus Andronicus is amazing. very very gory.

I might be the only one with this opinion, but for me the last Adrian Mole - Weapons of Mass Destruction was very gripping. :)
