Imagine
if the Pope wore rags
and the President
had no army at his command,
and every ideology
proclaimed its fallacies
to every would-be adherent
it regretfully turned away.
Imagine
if all the shops
on all the streets
that beckoned you to stuff your face
or adorn your body
or add another doo-dad
to your house that already bulges
with things, instead
were places where you might join in a song,
tell a joke, or share the memory
of some good deed
that someone had done for you...
