Earth Daughter

I am held within the womb
of the Earth
dark conclave
warm at first
and then cool

Feeling the earthly soil
surround me
against my fingers
upon my lips

I taste of it freely
inhale the dusky scent
confined within this space
I begin to unsettle rocks
and dirt

To break the surface
and emerge
greeted by the hallow moon
slowly rising
unfurling in layers

Naked in her tears
of so much sorrow
and so much joy
a child of her loins

An infant to the open air
yet bred in her wisdom
to touch her, feel her
she beats in my natural
rhythms

So I am hers
I have forgotten not
where I came
every step she whispers in hums
rattles through my bones
all is a journey to crawl back inside
her dusky dark embrace.

I like many things about this poem. I like the fact in the earlier stanzas you take such time to explain and paint the image of the earth around you. Very good, thank you for sharing.

I really love this poem. The imagery is compelling.

Thank you, this poem has sort of double meaning to me. It is about my own personal reflection and experince with the Goddess, as well as portraying a sort of Pagan Eve, if you will.
