Today more than ever before in history as far and back as we can chronicle it we are stumbling upon an empire of crises and of course rescuing from it is really out of question. We are trying to free us from all kinds of chains and forces, and we have harnessed powerful forces of nature and domesticated wildlife and eased us our living conditions, and have confront over ecological conditions. But we are as a matter of fact running into bigger and ungovernable situations. We have been persistently smashing up all protective and life-saving conditions. We keep on felling trees, produce emissive toxicants, and reducing, polluting both air and water and drying rivers and lakes, tearing down natural habitats of wildlife to make the land arable and farmable. We leave no domains untouched driving ourselves by atrocious propensity. We are devastating the planet. This is an environmental issue, and there are other issues social, political, cultural, racial, ethnic, national, and communal and the like. To exacerbate this there are grave issues of fundamentalists and fanatics. Plowing through all these negative forces poses a great challenge to all of us.

I am from Nepal, basically born of an agrarian familial or social background. I did not come up to modern complexities until adulthood. We had very plain living styles, and very conservative societies with too many taboos, mores and manners. Suddenly now we are open to the rest of the world through the galloping globalization stroke. Western cultures, languages, styles of living or fashions have invaded us, and some of us in our efforts to insulate us from the goings-on are really proved defenseless.

One sign of sanguinity is we are globally open and breaking barriers or chains of systems imposed on us for centuries and on the other hand the harmony with our social systems proceeded have been upset and unbalanced in point of fact.

Now I live flabbergasted, shipwrecked failing to arrive at a harbor. Shall I welcome the wind of globalization and swept away with the spirit of it or stick to the age-old values that created harmony for long ?

umm..indeed this is a very thought provoking question...i dare say some of us are living both..being caught up in globalization ..destorying of our mother earth..and trying to hold on to *age-old values that created harmony * as you were saying. it's a neverending struggle at best. but that doesn't mean we should give up. each individual has his or her part..it's just getting everyone to help..be aware of the BIGGER picture. "times oh how they're changing." change can be a good thing..or bad..depends. but killing our planet is never a good thing. can we stop..undo the damage..how bad do we want it? we all talk about it..but then there is the age old saying "talk is cheap". the world continues to spin..mankind continues to grow..build up..destorying our planet. mankind is it's very on enemy at times. can we save our planet..secure the future? only time will tell. time holds the truth.
