Just beyond the kiss
past the fingertips
fleshy throat

Just behind the eyes
beneath the voices
Calloused hands

Just inside the skin
under the footsteps
arching back

Just between our minds
around our lost words
nakedness

It's been a long time since I read the previous few poems you've posted here so I might be on shaky grounds in observing that there is a difference here, a less cerebrally held-at-a-distance quality, a libidinal directness that I value, though I perceive that the final "nakedness" is not necessarily or exclusively triumphant but rather contains an element of regret? fear?

vulnerablity? As my pesonal opinion of intimacy (and why few people truly manage it) is that it comes down to being truly vulnerable--spiritually, emotionally, physically...

I dunno if it's different or not LOL!! Probably...just as some little ditty I'll write months from now will again be different I hope, insomuch as I will be different.

I agree and perhaps the ultimate in vulnerability may be to feel and/or to say Although I love you with the whole of my being, I do not expect or demand that you love me in the same way - or at all!
