Transmission

I took the first breath
feeling around the edges
with delicacy

Slowly, painfully
the corners carved their path
blood spots, like cows hide

Receding back into the shoreline
tentively I tried again
with each step, to taste the air

Disdainfully inflating my lungs
I wished not to breathe again
but instead live on some higher plain

Trepidation on a velvet strand
holding it in and counting the hours
time begins to sway

Transgressing into the pendulum
become the point that does not rotate
now again taste the air

Retching at the stale-mate
dive back into the ellipsis
a vision comes from the first time

Now clarity suspended
I'll breathe through my pores
reptilian skin my shroud

Bleeding from another orphus
collapse my lungs
and drift back down.

Beautiful poem Dark Muse, I love the repetition of 'taste the air' and the offbeat images, which give the feel of something broken, and dark. I love this stanza in particular:

Transgressing into the pendulum
become the point that does not rotate
now again taste the air

Lovely.
