View Full Version : A "Business of Writing" subform?

Perhaps this wouldn't work, since I seem to be one of the few non-student non-teachers here who actually publishes for money, at least from what I can tell--but perhaps making some kind of effort would draw in at least some working writers who know the business and have a curriculum vitae. I don't know.

However, a business of writing forum would cover:

1. marketing trends and hot markets
2. finding agents, how to query them, when you need one
3. royalty contracts
4. copyright issues
5. submission procedures (like how submitting television scripts differs from non-fiction abstracts)

and perhaps a few other things I missed, but most markets which cater to freelancers cover these topics, and it might be a useful subforum to have on The Literature Network. You do have something of a college student base who participates here, and it is in college and university that writers need to develop an education on these issues.

Not everyone does this, of course, but some journalists now take masters degrees in their field of concentration.
