Oh-you'll thank me. Kind of lengthy but intriguing all the way through.

Thanks Jack for that link. It is as you say, long but well worth reading and thought provoking, even though I am not an American.

Hey, thanks alot for your input. This thing has 15 views so what I think is happening is that people are either seeing the link and figuring that they have already read it or people are seeing that is long and turning away due to issues they have with length. Kind of weird for a forum based around books!!! This is a great article written by possibly the best author of the 20th century!

I'd say, as maybe many others have before me, Kurt Vonnegot has impressive insight into the path - past and future - of humanity. Or perhaps he has no better insight than you and I, but rather, a gift for expressing it.

What I find truly remarkable about the link you posted was not the article itself (although it stings as I believe he intended) but the responses TO his article. I didn't read many of them before getting annoyed, and I didn't post one there myself, but I can't help wondering if people only post such replies to be antagonistic, or if they really missing the point so vastly?

Vonndgut is a personal favorite, and years ago I read his son's book, 'The Eden Express', and also enjoyed that book as well. While I've never argued with any of K.V.'s perspectives on the realities of the human condition, or our stunning foibles, I found this particular article to be.........less of the quality than I am used to reading from this master. His approach to these ongoing problems and issues seems a little disjointed.........but not on purpose, as he is usually so fond of doing.
...As for the comments following the article...........I found most to be quite juvenile.

But thanks for the link.... ( :
