I had read an article ultimately at http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn78/halloween.htm.It cited about-
Is Halloween Harmless?Does it break God's rule or make Him irate? The Bible versus Halloween? This sounds noteworthy, and of course it needs a debate.I perceived that Halloween is for fun purposes solely, and it does not irate God unless it is unethical. But what unethical acts is present?Furthermore,Halloween is perceived by a raft of people that is an adverse thing and the progenitor of it is Samhain
."On this occasion, it was believed that a gathering of supernatural forces occurred as during no other period of the year. The eve and day of Samhain were characterized as a time when the barriers between the human and supernatural worlds were broken. Otherworldly entities, such as the souls of the dead, were able to visit earthly inhabitants, and humans could take the opportunity to penetrate the domains of the gods and supernatural creatures.'

If it is authentic that ghost do exist,Halloween would be hitherto occur. So ghost do exist,or maybe it is a myth. What is your perspective?

Samhain is a very old celebration that predates Christianity and the belief of a single god in northern Europe. halloween, or All hallows eve is now the night before the feast of alsaints which is when christians pray for the souls of the dead, who are supposed to pass to the otherworld (heaven in a christian sense) when the veil between the world of the living and the dead is at its thinest. The Tradition of Halloween only really became somewhat universal because of Irish Emigrants as Samhain is an old Irish festivity alongside Lunnasa and Bealtaine, originating possible in the time of the pagan celts. It is one of two ancient feasts that have been adopted by the christian church, the other is Saint Brigids day which is Imbolc, Saint Brigid originally being a pagan goddess, imbolc her feast, and she was later adopted as a saint by the christian church.
So anyway my point is that no, Halloween isnt an insult to the church....
Now a days it is seen as a fun event, but alot of that lies on old superstitious traditions that where taken very seriously. The Pumpkin, which i think was originally a turnip had something to do wit hwarding off evil spirits that whould stray from the otherworld on All Hallows because the veil between world is at its thinest.
It is a celebration of the dead. the passing of souls to eternal peace.

isn't halloween some sort of a pagan holiday that managed to survive Christianity's takeover? it must conflict with the church in one way or another. Either way, halloween always produces one of the top 3 parties of the year---that has to be a good thing

ghost are metaphor for a bunch of different things. But metaphors are a communication device, nothing more
