We Still Remain

Can it so easily be washed away
such a fragile thing
that I never once imagined
if I thought it could be erased away
I do not think I ever would have attempted

And yet, I can see still traces
just upon the waves
a remainder of what has always been
perhaps this is a faint hope
or is it only child's dreams.

I do not believe we can be obliterated
in nothing more than a breath of wind
a touch of the waters
grains of sands.

If you look deeply
just close enough
you will see there still exists
traces of my heart
within your own.

Not so easily
will we escape this
our union made
though it seems to teeter
upon the edge of vanquishment
there is still yet a pulse
a flicker
of life

Something that cannot
be taken away.

Ah I like really liked this one, DM! There is no exact rhyming scheme but for some reason the words seem to be in a special rhythm. Especially these lines are really nice:

I do not believe we can be obliterated
in nothing more than a breath of wind
a touch of the waters
grains of sands.

If you look deeply
just close enough
you will see there still exists
traces of my heart
within your own

I believe that, at the least, we all believe that our being has some worth, particularly, if we have opened ourselves up to another...

Muse, muse over the fact that life is a possibility and that is why things could happen both ways, negative and positive.
