dandelion tea and lemongrass lips, the character of the
cherry tree vines its way around my history
and makes its way on the
Oriental field map, ottoman stage
black vests and top hats the ghosts sing
lullabies to my fears until I am,
I am a poet living in Mexico
with my adobe apartment
and coca cola cans lined up
to the sight of dragonfly winters
the Night is unfastening Orion's belt
stars in the ink I am writing the heavens free
I can't do this today,
bleeding from my ears and
my lungs, I will
endure
but my limbs cannot.
mi amor, porque no me
quieres
mis manos, mis brazos, entre mi pelo y mi corazon
la luna puede vivir un dia mas
pero el sol
nunca puede incendio
cogito ergo sum, Descartes measured the ligaments of love
and reported the physiology of hatred
I, Lucifer, will see the beginning
until it ends
the bodies
the walls
the buildings
all so beautiful, dancing in embers
while little pale souls swim up to heaven
and I lay here, in the midst of the chaos
disappearing into that
from which I came.

I must say I like your voice Paper. If someone were to ask me what this poem is about, I don't think I would have an answer. But it's engaging nonetheless. Again, the spanish works. :thumbs_up I find this setion weak though:

I can't do this today,
bleeding from my ears and
my lungs, I will
endure
but my limbs cannot.
It seems to dip into bathos. But I find this part exceptional:

I, Lucifer, will see the beginning
until it ends
the bodies
the walls
the buildings
all so beautiful, dancing in embers
while little pale souls swim up to heaven
and I lay here, in the midst of the chaos
disappearing into that
from which I came.
Yeah, that last section is a keeper. :)

Dear Virgil, thank you for the feedback! I do agree with you, the weakest part of the poem was those few lines. :) Always a pleasure to hear from you.
and djy78usa, I have a present for you.....

Excellent poem, paperleaves. Can't say that djy78usa's translation does it justice.

Marvellous! The fantasy just occurred to me that if you and I were to meet and one of us (surely me) proposed that we talk about the current major league baseball season or the Democratic Party convention, or whether to quit smoking, the conversation would pretty soon turn surrealistic!

I try to imagine the weather where you live, but cannot!

I try to imagine you drinking a cup of coffee, but am confident it tastes different in your mouth than it does in mine...

Oh, Jer. How your mind intrigues me!
And thank you, quasimodo! I appreciate it being better without the binary code...;)
