And now the twilight falls, the heart
that once was brave and foolish,
more foolish than brave,
more brave than foolish,
surrenders to the more pedestrian rules
by which we attempt to live secure
as if with cautious, mincing steps
we might delay arriving
at the inevitable cliff though it,
meanwhile, is hurrying to meet us.

Grim, sad poem. And who knows when twilight will hit? Maybe it's twilight right now and we don't even know it. Thought provoking poem Jer.

Wow, Jer. You've really done it with the entirety of this poem. It is beautiful!

I can't help but think that your appreciation is coloured by the sweet friendship that is developing between us, because much as I like the humble merits of this - the sincerity of it for the most part - it is NOTHING compared with the crazy-wonderful outpourings of your poems...

I have been siting on the edge of that cliff, patiently awaiting the arrival of mincing steps, so that I could enthusiastically show my feelings with the vigorous sound of one hand clapping!
