How do I pull off an allegory?

An allegory is an extended personification of an abstract thought/idea/concept, e.g. love, death, war etc. So you create a person and describe in detail what they look like, what they do, what the reasons for their actions are, what they may lead to and so on. For example, you might describe Earth as a mother who feeds and punishes her children, who gives birth and destroys, who cuddles and neglects.

What exactly is it you want to do?

I think I mean an allegory:
Basically for a school assignment, I'm writing a short story about a rich couple's divorce in 1921 comparing it to the first world war- betrayel, loyalty, spying, etc.

Just like you do any text, build a script of what happened in first world war, what should happen in your text, avoid being obvious, something like Lord Dude was upset because Lady Gal instead of making dinner was chatting all day and could not left the phone free. So he went to take care of his prized birds and discovered that his favorite, Duke, was found dead cold, etc.

But wouldn't Lord Dude and Lady Gal have servants to take care of making dinner? If not, then maybe they should change their titles.

Lord Dude and Lady Gal lost their servants when they all traveled to USA after better oportunities of life and still didnt got a good replacement because most people are working in factories.

Great response - but I want to clarify that I was just kidding.

Discouraging the very rare person who steps up and offers helpful suggestions, would be foolish on my part. We don't get nearly enough of helpful suggestions here.

Well currently the narrator's basically switching the word 'divorce' with a word to do with war a lot.

Life is an allegory, and nothing else, a kind of parables. All we do are but a drama staged, allegorically speaking and what is seen is not what is and what is not or unseen is what is, and life is a pendulum that swings between two extremities.

That's very philosophical :)

you could use many such words eg; Entrenched, Offensive, Tactical, Bombard, Retreat, Bogged down, Attrition, Snipe, Throughout the story, after all, sometimes divorce and warfare are similar.
