It seems the most famous backmasked song is Hotel California by the eagles, along with Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin and Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. Are they techniques employed for subliminal purposes or are they unintentional and harmless?

My dad was in radio from the 70s to the 90s and I can remember this being a big deal. One Beatles song apparently said ‘Paul is dead’ and I remember some grown ups checking that out. Backward songs sound scary to me! You could make out words, but there is a pattern to the English language so I think it reasonable to think that sometimes words can be made out of other words said backwards. I say it’s just a coincidence.

I remember trying to play a Black Sabbath record backwards, we didn't hear anything. Was it Black Sabbath? Maybe Led Zepplin? It was some rock band...

I think that's one of the most idiotic conspiracy theories(okay, not really a theory but you know what I mean) I've heard. Come on, why would anyone bother with such silly things? As far as I know, Satanism isn't illegal, so if you wish to glorify it, why mask it at all? You write a song and that's it, you don't hide a message in "if there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed..." etc. Stupid.

I've always wondered what a "bustle in your hedgerow" was?

Once I heard from my friend that Hotel California backward gives satanic hymn. Then I tried to read it to him :D Of course, it had no sense. I am just wondering what fool said that in first place. Reminds me on Einstein and space and stupidity...
