My greatest doubt------------>Does learning solely one word a day help you? Generally,I endeavored to learn 10 words a day, but, alas,I forgot some words eventually. Why is this so?
This is not palatable to me at all.I detest being stupid by using simple vocabulary.

Being stupid and using simple vocabulary are two very different things, both of which are, to say the least, admirable, in my opinion.

One word a day certainly won't hurt you.

I don't know if learning a word a day will help you or not. Unless you're able to use the word in context a few times, you will likely forget what you learned. Using the word in a sentence, and saying it outloud in conversations and using the word in your writing might help you retain its meaning.

I learned a ton of words in school doing the vocabulary exercises, and I would say that I've forgotten at least half of them, if not more.

I like Merriam Websters online dictionary because they have an audio-pronunciation so if you do try to use the word in your speech, you will at least know how to say it.

I don't see what's so stupid about using simple words. In fact, most of the times, highly pretentious vocabulary seems more silly to me...

Especially when the person using the word doesn't know how it's supposed to be used. Or worse, when they pronounce it wrong.
